Can I load cross-line sorted data?

Yes. Starting with OpendTect 3.0, you can load x-line sorted data.

When loading the data,  OpendTect will detect the sorting. This must be 'fixed', which means both directions must be sorted, but any of the two can be the 'fastest' direction. It doesn't matter whether the sorting is upward or downward.

For 2D data, you must specify a valid trace number which should either go up or down continuously. Whether this is a shot point number, or a CDP number, or just a sequence number - it'is up to you, as long as the number is well behaved.

Pre-Stack data can only be inline-sorted.
