Installation instructions & hardware requirements
Please read the installation instructions or check the application managment documentation (HTML or PDF)for more information. Please note that you always need to download the installation scripts separately.
To use cross-platform distributed computing, you need to download all platforms you intend to use.
OpendTect requires a good, working OpenGL installation. OpenGL support is often already present on UNIX and if not it can easily be added by installing some packages. On Solaris, make sure a recent patch bundle is installed (including at least the February 2002 OpenGL patch). On Linux, it may be hard to get good hardware acceleration, in which case we recommend to switch to a graphical card based on an nVidia-chipset, for which there are excellent drivers obtainable from nVidia. Recently some ATI Radeon cards have appeared that perform extremely well.
