BG Group is sponsoring a major OpendTect enhancement project to bring the software to a new level. In total 14 sub-projects are defined, covering visualization and performance enhancements and filling in gaps in the functionality. All developments are in the open source part of the software. In other words BG's financial injection benefits the entire OpendTect community. Major components are:
- Improvements to: crossplotting, color bar editing, pre-stack displays, scenes with multiple axes, implicit representation of bodies
- Performance Enhancements to efficiently use clusters
- Various attribute extensions
- New displays: VSP's, AVO hodograms
- Data load improvements and direct SEGY access (no data duplication)
- Part of the funds are used for the multi-client Madagascar Plugin development
